The United States Department of Transportation has recently released the new Standard Industry Fare Level (SIFL) rates for the 2011 tax year.  The SIFL rate is used to calculate the cost that should be charged to employees who use company aircraft on non-company business.  These rules were established by the IRS to ensure that businesses were charging a reasonable amount to the employee to use their aircraft.  In theory, this was established so companies didn’t “take” business away from the airlines and the IRS made sure the employee was not getting a benefit he didn’t pay taxes on.  You can find the new rates to be charged for this transportation at the following link:  http://ostpxweb.dot.gov/aviation/X-50%20Role_files/standindustfarelevel.htm
