The Electronic Flight Bag - iPads and other tools are quick substitutes to paper charts and approach plates.

The Electronic Flight Bag - iPads and other tools are quick substitutes to paper charts and approach plates. SSC uses the latest technology to keep our passengers safe and on time.

Private aviation is the safest and most convenient form of travel, and electronic devices and advances and technology are making it even safer and more convenient.

Traveling in a private jet, pilots (and their passengers) still experience changing weather and traffic scenarios and pop-up TFRs (temporary flight restrictions) which can impact routes and arrival times.  Electronic devices give us additional tools to foresee problems and make the best decisions to get you where you need to be safely, comfortably, and on time.

Electronic devices such as iPads are becoming standard equipment for pilots and passengers. The FAA has approved tablet computers as standard equipment for pilots in certain circumstances, and at SSC our pilots and general aviation customers are supplementing the traditional bag of paper charts and approach plates with documents and approved apps on tablet computers.   We use applications such as Foreflight (for weather briefing, flight planning, filing flight plans, approach plates, FBO information, IFR & VFR sectionals to name a few. We also use fltplan.com for the same purposes.

We will eventually replace our paper checklists and manuals with digital versions on the iPad. We also have a copy of the FAR/AIM and FlightAware’s app which allows us to track other aircraft.

What this means to clients is simply that we have more tools at our disposal to ensure we make the safest and quickest decisions so that we can provide the most convenient options to get you where you need to go.

Beyond the cockpit, we access Google Maps to give clients directions to their ground destination or hotel or use review sites to help them find a good place to eat in their destination city.

We’ve also upgraded the equipment in our fleet to ensure that our pilots have the latest equipment.

Our Cirrus fleet includes a variety of the latest tools, including  G1000, Avidyne Entegra R9, Avidyne with EX5000 MFD & CMAX electronic approach plates.

Our Jet aircraft have the Garmin 430, Primus 1000 EFIS with a GNS XLS flight management system (FMS), Primus 1000 with a Universal UNS1 flight management system (FMS).

We’ve been in business since 1958.   Technology for aviation has changed a lot in that time, and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.  We are keeping up with the latest tools and technology to get you where you need to go while keeping you safe, comfortable, and on time.
