Unless you’ve been living under a rock, any aviation enthusiasts can appreciate the beating Garmin products have taken in light of Apple’s iPad. Many aviators have jumped on the iPad train, and for the most part, rightfully so. After all, finally, a device that is small, portable, but so rich and powerful when it comes to applications within the cockpit.

So what has Garmin been busy doing in the meantime? Well, they have been busy producing a product, aimed specifically at aviators, that contains much of the iPad features, only enhanced. Below is a video of Garmin’s new aera 796, which AOPA has coined the “iPad Killer”. Take a look and you be the judge.

I welcome your thoughts on this product as a replacement to the iPad.
